With the amount of light there in Times Square, we would have been able to get well-exposed images at a wider aperture and higher ISO—even without the use of flash. Image 6-6 was taken with the Nikon 200mm f/2 AF-S VR lens, using only the available light. I specifically placed the model, Lauren, so that enough light fell on her face to give me a correct exposure at a shutter speed where I could still hand-hold my camera (no tripods are allowed in Times Square without a permit).
